(15 July, 2008, Hong Kong) The Y.Elites Group will organize “Y.Elites Forum: 30 Years of Reform & Opening-Up: The Role of Hong Kong, Opportunities & Responsibilities for Youths” on 30 July, 2008. Renowned economics and political experts will share their insights with around 500 youths on the consequences of reform & opening-up of China on the country, Hong Kong and the youths, and to look into the prospect of China.
Organized by the Y.Elites Group, the forum is greatly supported by the Youth Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Central Policy Unit, Home Affairs Bureau and Education Bureau, with a few youth organizations as the participating organizations. After the opening ceremony officiated by Mr Donald Tsang, Chief Executive of the HKSAR Government, and Mr Gao Siren, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People"s Government in the HKSAR, the following speakers will speak on various topics:
- Mr Long Yong Tu, Secretary-General, Boao Forum for Asia
- Professor Zhang Zhuoyuan, Senior Research Fellow of the Institute of Economics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
- Professor Fan Gang, Director of National Economic Research Institute, China Reform Foundation
- The Honourable Leung Chun Ying, Convenor of the Non-Official Members of the Executive Council
- Mr Jack Ma, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alibaba Group
- Mr Sing Wang, Partner of TPG
The speakers will dig into reviewing the reform & opening up, the prospect of the Mainland and the opportunities for the youths. With the youths as the target audience, the forum aims at providing a better understanding on this significant change of the country, and the means to grasp all opportunities ahead.

The reform & opening-up has led to the dramatic growth of China and Hong Kong, providing many chances for the youngsters; while they, being the future leaders of the country and Hong Kong, will contribute their best efforts to the regions. This forum aligns with what the Y.Elites Group is focusing, and provides an interactive platform for the national education. We hope that, though participating in the forum, the youths will know more about their country, their positions and Hong Kong’s position, and how to enlighten their future.”
